Hello!

I have the Asrock Z370 Fatality K6 Gaming with the latest BIOS 1.40 and i have put on it an 8700K.

I have 2 issues - questions.

1) Turbo Frequency

When i run Cinebench Single Core or Prime95 1 Thread, i never see 4.7GHz Turbo. I see up to 4.6Ghz.
I do not know if this is normal. My Cinebench Score is similar to Guru3D .
Single Core: 196
Multi:  1407 - 1414
When i run single i see the Load is spreading to other cores.
(With the previous BIOSes i only see Turbo up to 4.3GHz, at Single core Cinebench the score was 161!

2) Voltage - Temperatures - BIOS Settings

This is the weird important issue.

When i have the following Settings with Load Optimized CPU OC Setting to Disabled, i have very High Temperatures. Prime95 Small FFTs 85C!
If i choose the 4.7GHz Profile, temperatures are very good up to 70-73C.

My Settings:

Today i see my PC Freezed 2 times with the Load Optimized CPU Setting Enable to 4.7GHz. With the previous BIOSes i didn't have this issue but i had Turbo as i said up to 4.3GHz.
So i changed the BIOS settings as you can see above. I set BCLK Frequency to 100MHz manual, cause the value was 103.1 or someting...

When i run Cinebench the Voltages and temperatures are:
(If i make 3-4 runs, the temps will be higher.)

Is something wrong with the motherboard settings to Auto or something?

Thank you!

Stock settings you'll get high temps on small fft as the CPU will just turbo to 4.7 and dump way more voltage into itself than it needs. This is almost always the case when you leave stock settings on just about any Intel CPU and run those stress tests.

I'd just manually set an OC. If you want to start with something like 4.7, set the ratio to 47 and start your vcore at 1.2 (if unstable, boost about 0.015 until it is stable). Also, iirc, set your FCLK to 1000mhz as i believe Asrock defaults to 800mhz when all the other Z370 boards default to 1000. This is what I did with my 8700k on the same board anyways. Mine settled around 1.23 vcore to be stable though.

I have MCE (Multi Core Enchantment) Disabled.
I don't want all my cores to boost to 4.7GHz at the moment. I would like to play Stock and then to OC.
Temperatures above 75C in the winter are not good, cause the summer will be 80+C.
I will try 4.7 manual with the voltage you mentioned later.

Now i have set the Voltage offset to -80 at stock Settings and the temps are somekind of normal.

Do we have a link or something with FCLK frequency?

The default AVX Multiplier is x4 or something else?

I have set FCLK to 1000 from 800. :)

have the same board and i think something is very wrong with all bioses for this board coz i have a problem with high temps too and im on corsair h115i watercooler...
i think that all bioses supply way too much power to these cpus

now i know that these new 8700k get very hot but have noticed that for example on default settings no oc temps are good at start 35c at idle 65c at gaming...then after some time/heavy load like more taxing games or cpu benchmarking temps are rising even after cold boot! then its 40c idle and 85-90 c same games!!!!
and setting bios to deefault/restarting pc/cold boot nothing changes - temps stay high and vrm get very hot even on idle!
the only thing that helps is removing power cable from wall outlet so that even static charge disappears!
only then are temps norrmal again

yes, further testing show that aftter unpluggin completee pc from the wall outlet discharges all electricty and temps are 35c on idle max 70c heavy gaming but as soon as i start avx benching bios flood cpu with too much power and temps stay 42c idle max 98c gaming even after cold boot...
so i am not allowed to use avx and all is ok...
bios needs revising
