I have been catching up on the Meltdown and Spectre news. I originally thought AMD users just needed a Windows update and we were good to go, but it appears that is not the case. Just for fun i downloaded InSpectre to check if i am vulnerable, turns out i am still vulnerable to Spectre. Which requires a BIOS update.
It would be appreciated if ASRock can give us an update on when we can expect to have patches for this major exploit. It is a pretty big deal. We still have no idea if anyone is using this exploit in the wild, and it sounds like people are working on it now. It's certainly not difficult to detect if people are vulnerable. Thanks for your time. |

There is another thread where we are keeping an eye. Bottom line is, until AMD release a microcode update to motherboard manufacturers, they won't be able to release a new BIOS for us. A lot of a processor makers technical stuff is proprietary info and they probably don't want to just dump it straight to mobo makers. AMD probably passes a lot on, just as Intel does, but both probably force strong NDAs. I'm getting into waffle. Meltdown is the real problem because it's real easy to exploit. Spectre is a tougher cookie, especially some variants over others.
