Hello

I have a two very strange problem with my motherboard Taichi X399?

1.

I can not get the I/O rear panel USB 3.0 Port to work properly (8 x USB 3.0 Ports 1-8)?
It refuses to load the driver properly and I keep get this error code, This device cannot start. (Code 10) An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function?
My front usb 3.0 (USB 3.0 Header USB3_9_10 and USB 11_12), usb 2.0 and rear usb 3.1 works perfectly with exactly the same hardware with generic drives from Windows 10. Soo there is no problem with my external hardware or with the drivers, otherwise they would not work here either.

2.

I can not get my RME AIO soundcard to work in PCIE3 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) PCI Express x1 lane, no matter what I do? But it works fine in all of the other PCI Express x16/8 lanes?
Soo is there something I am missing here? Some settings in the UEFI BIOS to make my USB rear panel USB 3.0 Port to work properly and my PCIE3 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) PCI Express x1 to work?

I've tried everything I could find in bios without success. Would really appreciate your help with this.
Want to know if it's just my motherboard or if there are several that have the same problem?

My system:
Asrock Taichi X399 with 2.0 BIOS (no overclock)
Threadripper 1950X
G.Skill Trident Z RGB (Samsung B-die) F4-3200C14Q64GTZR (running at 2933 Mhz).

1) code 10 can be either driver or registry fault, hardware fault would be different number
for this u can try contancting online micrsoft support (they should resolve it rly fast imo as i contacted em several times and it was all quick solutions)
or u can google code 10

2) windows doesnt see it? or

Thanks kerberos_20

1) It's no problem with the drivers just with the rear panel USB 3.0 Ports not work properly (8 x USB 3.0 Ports 1-8)?

The same hardware and drivers are working fine in USB 2.0, USB 3.0 (USB 3.0 Header USB3_9_10 and USB 11_12) and in usb 3.1. So it's not a Microsoft driver problem here.

2)Yes, windows doesnt see it?

1) if u are 100% sure that usb drivers are ok, then ull need to clean up registry
hklm/system/current control set/class/... here search for your broken usb device and delete it then reboot

2) can u check windows protocols to see if there is anything related to it?

Nacka67, I have the X399 FGP and have a rear USB 3.0 socket problem at power up.  I am aware of at least one other user with the same problem.  If I power up my system with nothing plugged into the rear 3.0 sockets, the sockets will not work.  If I power up with a USB stick (or mouse, or etc) they all work OK.  Top and rear 3.1 always work.  However, I never see any error messages.  Where are you seeing your messages, logs?  Please try it with at least one socket plugged at power up and see if it works.  I reported this to ASRock, but they refused to try it with nothing plugged, so it did not fail.  Enjoy, John.

EDIT:  Get latest chip set drivers (18.10) here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/download
What are these? : Latest AMD all in 1 driver ver17.10.3401
If they are from ASRock, please forget them.
Is your RME the Rme Hdspe Aio Pcie Card?

EDIT "* If M2_1 is occupied, PCIE4 will be disabled."
"PCIE3 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x8 lane width graphics cards."

Thanks for your help MisterJ, I'm so glad I'm not alone with my problem.

I got tired and went out and bought a usb 3.1 hub so now the parts I want to plug in work. Asrock and AMD need to fix this problem for usb 3.0,  it is not stable on this platform.

I have the latest AMD Chipset Drivers 2018-02-12 installed?

MisterJ, do you think it's true even if you have M2_3 occupied?

The manual says this only:
* If U.2 Connector is plugged, M2_1 will be disabled

MisterJ, PCIE3 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) PCI Express x1 lane is not a x16 lane!

I can't see anything about the "* If M2_1 is occupied, PCIE4 will be disabled."  in the manual?

I'm very grateful for all the great suggestions and help. :-)

Sorry, Nacka67, you are absolutely correct and I was using the X370 Taichi manual and therefore very wrong.  The only restriction seems to be the U.2 one you pointed out.  Have you tried to see if powering up with a rear USB 3.0 plugged worked?  If you installed both the Allin1 and the 18.10 from AMD then I am not sure.  In general you should not use the drivers from ASRock.  Please use only the AMD chip set drivers.  The exception is the RAID drivers should be ASRock.  All my drivers I got from the vendors (Intel, Realtek, etc not ASRock).  ASRock drivers tend to be down level.  Only RAID and Aquantia (10 GBps LAN) drivers come from ASRock because they have been modified.  I would suggest you open an ASRock support ticket and ask about the RME PCIe problem.  Please let us know what you learn.  Thanks and enjoy, John.

Nacka67, Please do the following to see your chip set drivers versions:
Settings-Apps-AMD Software-Modify   Then capture the screenshot
Should look like this:

Hi MisterJ,
How did you go getting this sorted out?

I can not get my RME AIO soundcard to work in PCIE3 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) PCI Express x1 lane, no matter what I do? But it works fine in all of the other PCI Express x16/8 lanes?
Soo is there something I am missing here? Some settings in the UEFI BIOS to make my USB rear panel USB 3.0 Port to work properly and my PCIE3 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slot) PCI Express x1 to work?

I am unable to detect anything in my PCIE3 either and am after an avenue to follow this issue up on, I have a video capture card but a card is a card when it don't work.
Cheers,
hairy.
