As a previous Z170 OC Formula owner before. Since ASRock don't made Z370 OCF/MOCF so I went for Taichi. Seen someone on Finland hitting DDR4-4400 HCI memtest stable with this board.
Here are what should be implement to the BIOS. Maybe The design of Extreme 4 / K6 / Taichi / Pro i7 are the same. I think all models can benefit from this. 1.Boot failure guard count. Extremely necessary for high speed DDR4 !! On Z170 OCF I can set numbers to whatever I want. Sometimes it take 10 boot to be just 1 successful boot. But there is no options on Taichi here. MB just boot 3 times and if it can't boot then it will reset. 2.Slope settings on advanced memory tab. Raising slope and Falling slope can be crucial for high speed DDR4 also. On Z170 OCF I can gain another 200Mhz by manipulate these settings. 3.DRAM Boot voltage. On high speed DDR4 boot voltage may need higher than actual voltage. 4.VRM switching frequency. Also this can be useful for high Ghz. Optionals. 1.Adaptive Voltage. The problem with offset voltage is AVX programs will overshoot voltage too much. For example My 8700K @ 5.1 need 1.38V fix but I don't want to stay at 1.38V all time even at idle. I plan to keep the CPU for long time. So I am looking for low idle voltage. Then I try to use offset +0.02 and normal programs that don't use AVX stay at 1.376V but programs that use AVX overvolt to 1.456V which is way too high. I want 0.6V idle and 1.376V for all programs no matter it utilize AVX or not. Thanks for considering. |
