I likely will be reverting to 1.30 to do more testing and really don't need support. I am posting this info here just to make sure there is a record of changes observed moving from 1.30 to 1.60.
In CrystalDiskMark I am seeing a drop of ~27% performance for 4K Q8T8 and 4K Q4T8. In 4K Q1T1 I am seeing a drop of 20%. This is on an Intel Optane 900P U.2 Drive. The CPU and RAM have been clocked to the same frequencies and voltages used before the update. |

Back on 1.30 and performance has returned to what I was seeing prior to updating to 1.60.
I think I will wait for another round of updates to try this again. -5% probably would have been fine but 20% (especially on 4K Q1T1 reads) negates the reason to spend what I do so this update is just not worth it. |

I have a 512G Samsung 960 Pro NVME on M2-1 and a 500G Samsung 850 EVO on SATA-2.
AS SSD on BIOS 1.30 and 1.60 are virtually the same on both devices. Maybe the reduction is only on the Optane |

I am actually pretty sure that you are right since 3D XPoint does not work at all the same way traditional NAND does. Windows 10 does not even see the drive without Intel's special drivers. I have now gone back and forth between 1.30 and 1.60 twice and the performance drop is consistent for the 900P. Edited by nosirrahx - 04 Mar 2018 at 5:29am |

Just to be sure that we are talking about the same thing, it is 4K Q1T1 speeds we are talking about here. Even if all the other speed tests are the same 4K Q1T1 is the only one you will feel in typical use case situations.

I did a little checking to see if I was the only one and this popped up right at the top:
https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/7o6b7v/quick_optane_900p_benchmark_after_windows_patch/ I know this update is supposed to be different but those results are pretty much what I am seeing, nothing has changed. |

Just seen your post having searched for why my Samsung 960 Pro had reduced in performance dramatically after updating to BIOS 1.80. This was shown in both Samsung Magician and CrystalDiskMark.
Reverted to BIOS 1.30 and performance is back as expected. Thanks for the post . |
