Hi everybody,

i have an issue with the ram frenquency, i can't use the xmp profile at the full speed of my ram (or to o.c.) with win 10, i can use max 2400mhz otherwise i can't boot in to windows. But with linux i can use it even to oc 2800/3000.

Might it depends by the driver?

this is my build:
Asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITXac
Thermaltake Smart SE 530W
AMD Ryzen 5 2400G
G.Skill 8GB DDR4-2666 (2x4)
SSD Drevo D1 m2
BIOS 4.51

thanks

What you see, my guess, is in the different ways/terms the BIOS passe off EFI data to/between Windows and Mint. And then in turn what each OS does with said data.

You say MAX 2400 yet in the middle pic above it is running at it's rated 2666. "Configured Clock Speed: 1333 MHz

It doesn't answer your question but I notice that there are no G.Skill DDR4-2666 kits on the QVL, at all. There's a gap between 2400 and 2933 on both the generic Ryzen QVL and the specific Raven Ridge QVL. Is there a difference between the way you're booting Windows and Linux - is one using UEFI boot and the other legacy, perhaps?

FWIW, I'm using Corsair DDR4-2666 (which is on the QVL) with the same board, BIOS and processor at 2933 with Windows 10 UEFI boot, simply by setting the RAM speed in the XMP menu with everything else at stock.

How exactly is Windows failing when you set the higher speed?

Thank you, you are right this RAM kit is not on the QVL but why it works fine at 2133/2400 and not on 2666mhz???

I'm booting Win10 with UEFI and Mint with a live distro on a USB drive.

On windows i can start up the system till the logon screen then when i try to insert the pw, win falls down with a black screen.

i've noticed also something else (not sure i might be wrong): before installing the AMD drivers i could use Windows with the XMP profile setted to 2666.

it's a strange thing...
