Hey, noob here. Posting a problem I ran into, plus the solution in the event that it saves someone else some brain racking...
Ran into an issue that I was struggling with on and off for a week, in which whenever I installed an EVGA GFX 1080 TI graphics card, upon system startup, the ASRock BIOS management console would not appear. (I had a monitor tied to the MOBO HMDI port.) Simply a black screen would appear, and the installed MS Windows 10 would not boot either. If I removed the EVGA card, everything worked as expected.
After a call to EVGA tech support (because I thought I had a malfunctioning EVGA card), they provided guidance on the UEFI settings. In short, after ensuring the UEFI settings were already enabled, and the Secure Boot and Fast Boot settings were already disabled, they also suggested looking at the primary graphics display setting, which turned out to be the issue. For the benefit of others having a similar issue, the critical setting was: =================================== MOBO: ASRock 270 Supercarrier BIOS 2.40 EVGA: GFX 1080 TI 1) Navigate to the ASRock UEFI as follows: Advanced Mode (F6) -> Advanced -> Chipset Configuration -> Primary Graphics Adapter 2) Change the Primary Graphics Adapter from "PCI Express" to "Onboard" 3) Then exit and save as follows: Exit -> Save Changes and Exit =================================== Then, once the EVGA 1080 TI was installed, the system booted as expected. Problem resolved. R, Jon |
