Hello,

I got the Asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac yesterday, and I've had big problems with latency which I found out because my audio and mouse stuttered in windows when just loading programs. In games it was awful. I had already updated BIOS to 4.60, installed latest AMD chipset drivers & Nvidia drivers and updated Windows 10 (& Intel drivers LAN through windows).

Using LatencyMon I could see big delays in especially dxgkrnl.sys, nvlddmkm.sys, ntoskrnl.exe with > 200 ms in highest execution time (could also see some delays in ndis.sys and wdf01000.sys) Ouch

Removed Nvidia drivers and tried with older and older drivers, no luck. Disabled all kind of power management options, no luck. On reddit someone had tried switching to PCIe x8 and it worked for him. So I tried switching to 2x8 in the Bios under 'Advanced -> AMD PBS -> PCIe x16/2x8 Switch'. Didn't work. However, through trial and error (still latency and some system crash while loading games), using the following settings removed my latency problems Big smile

  • PCIe x16/2x8 Switch -> x16
  • PCIe x16 Switch -> Gen 1
  • Promontory PCIe Switch -> Auto

What is difference between 'PCIe x16 Switch' in Gen 1 and Gen 2? Are with talking about PCIe 1.0 vs 2.0 -> 4 GB/s vs. 8 GB/s bandwidth, shouldn't it already be PCIe 3.0 x16 with 15.7 GB/s? Will it affect performance? If it does, what to do?

Lastly, on the motherboard page https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1ty%20AB350%20Gaming-ITXac/index.asp, it says USB 3.1 Gen1, however on the box, in the manual, and on the shroud as seen on the page it says USB 3.0. Which is it? Maybe update the page..

My system:

  • AMD R5 2600X
  • Asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac
  • G.SKill Ripjaws V F4-3200C14D-16GVK @ CL14 3200 MHz
  • Palit Gefore GTX 1060 DUAL 6GB

Thanks in advance!

Using PCIe X16 Switch -> Gen 2, it crashes after playing 30 secs of CS:GO..  No apparent latency problems..

EDIT:

Reverting Windows to 1709 does not solve the issue :/

I'm glad someone else also has the same problem with this motherboard. I've been struggling with input lag for a while now, even swapping GPU's (I've tried RX 580 and GTX 770).

Was that PCIe Gen 1 setting a permanent latency fix for you?

Also, can you point me over to the reddit thread that you mentioned, where people were discussing the busted PCIe bus on this board?

Thanks!

I run this mobo in my daughters rig with 2 x 16GB 3000mhz, 3600x and currently running an RX570 (GTX 1060 3GB prior) without issue. Make sure you are running the latest bios and grab your intel network drivers from Intel. I had issues with ASRocks network drivers that would cause random BSOD's.

Running Windows 10 with latest Radeon vid drivers and AMD chipset drivers as of 3-23-20. 1080p 60hz monitor with wired keyboard and mouse .. if you are running wireless, that could be a source of "input lag".

This little motherboard has been a good performer with a 2200g, 2700x and now 3600x cpu's. Using 2200g for video, then GTX 1060 3gb and now RX 570 4GB without issue. Fortnite played surprisingly well on the 2200g.
