For the past few months I've been using integrated graphics for a second monitor without issue. About two weeks ago it stopped working. Neither monitor would work off of the integrated graphics (and both would work just fine on my gtx1060). After re-installing the driver, it worked. Last week I had the same thing happen. I booted it up and the second monitor wouldn't work. I spent about 12 hours trying to get it working and it just happened to start working again the third time I installed the driver. I tried everything possible. I uninstalled and re-installed the display adapter in the device manager multiple times, attempted to disable and re-enable it in the BIOS repeatedly, and nothing ever seemed to improve anything, but it randomly started working on the third time re-installing the driver.
Today, I left my PC running while I took a nap, came back, woke the PC up, and there was no second monitor detected. I once again did all of the usual steps to get it working again and so far have had no success. I'm at a loss for things to do to get it working again. Things I have tried: Turning the PC off and back on Ensuring that IGPU Second Monitor is enabled in BIOS Disabling and enabling IGPU Second Monitor in BIOS Uninstalling display adapter and re-installing Updating Drivers Re-installing drivers Unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in. I'd also note that when this happens, the intel control panel that can normally be accessed by right clicking on the desktop doesn't show up, only the nvidia control panel. I'm not sure if that means anything, but it's available whenever it works and isn't when it doesn't. |

Are you running Windows 10 and have updates set to auto install ? If so probably some Win10 update a few weeks ago did it, you should check the Windows Update history and see what got installed a few weeks ago.
It is common for both Intel Graphics and Nvidia graphics controls to not launch proper if the device is not detected. Edited by badbri - 14 May 2018 at 10:32am |

It did randomly start working again after a while. I have no idea why.
And yes, I did have a Windows 10 update. In fact, the last time it happened was right after Windows updated. For whatever reason, if I wait long enough, the problem seems to solve itself, as this time it started working after I left my PC off for a little while. I'd just like to figure out how to keep it from happening in the first place. |
