I have a tricky problem with my configuration J3455B + linux.
I experienced daily freeze of PC. Sometimes the freeze happen after 1 hour from boot, sometimes after 10 hours. Always it happen when no user is connected. I tryed to disable c-state from bios and from OS. I tryed to disable hcpi from BIOS and OS. I tryed Ubuntu 18.04 (kernel 4.15) and Linum Mint 18.3 (kernel 4.10). I checked log files (kern.log, syslog, etc) and it seems that no special event are logged.
Can you help me? Motherboard: J3455B-ITX with BIOS 1.3 RAM: 2x8GB CMSA16GX3M2C1866C11 HDD: SSD 240GB SanDisk Plus USB 3: 4 USB-Ethernet adapter Rankie USB 3: 1 HUB USB 3 powered with external HDD connected USB 2: 1 HUB USB 2 with keyboard and mouse connected OS: Ubuntu 18.04 or Linux Mint 18.3 |

Dear ggeria, I have the same problem - Ubuntu Desktop 18.04 in this m/b going down (complete unexpectable power off, system return to normal only after disconnection power cord and connecting it again) or going to unexplainable freeze (monitor is off or blinking, pressing keyboard - no reaction, etc... return to normal only after reconnect power cord).
Did You find a solution?

Yes I found the solution... after a lot of crazy day There are 2 different problem: 1. Random freeze of PC during inactivity or during working. Solution: the motherboard support memory at 1866MHz, so I bought Corsair memory at that frequency. But my memory is not in the compliant memory list... so I had the idea to reduce the frequency at 1600MHz and the PC don't freeze again 2. Systematic freeze when switch from one user to another or after a screen stand-by. Solution: the problem is about i915 graphic card. Reading on internet I found a lot of parameter to add to default grub file i915.modeset=1 i915.enable_rc6=0 i915.enable_fbc=1 i915.enable_guc_loading=1 i915.enable_guc_submission=1 i915.enable_huc=1 i915.enable_psr=1 i915.disable_power_well=0 i915.semaphores=1 i915.enable_execlists=0 processor.max_cstate=1 intel_idle.max_cstate=0 I'm not sure what they really need. You can try bu yourself. I added all of them. I hope that these solutions helps also you. regards
