Hi all,

I recently bought a HP H220 HBA because the onboard Intel SATA3 ports died out on my Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 board. The HP card is being detected only on PCIE2 and not on PCIE4 or PCIE5. Other cards are working in these slots.

While there is no loss of functionality, I need the HBA card in PCIE 4 or 5 for thermal reasons.

I have tried  re-flashing the BIOS and even erasing / re-programming the BIOS chip in a external SPI programmer. Nothing works.

Will appreciate any help on fixing this wierd problem.

Hi everyone,

Will appreciate some help and guidance here.

The heat buildup is causing my GPU to throttle back, and I need to swap slots. Clearing CMOS and Erasing / Flashing the BIOS Chip with a SPI programmer does not help. The card is fine, and so are the slots. The issue is that the card is detected only in PCIE2 for some unknown reasons. I even tried removing every other add on card including the Video card, no luck.

I read somewhere that a IRQ conflict might be the issue, is there any way I can check or set IRQs manually in the BIOS?

Edit: The PC is currently on BIOS version 2.30, it tried 2.31A and even 2.20. No luck. Is there a repository of Older BIOS versions which I can use to flash with the external programmer and check if they solve the problem?
