I have so many problems with this motherboard.

First of all when I moved all my old working hardware to this motherboard it didn?™t boot. While I was on another channel on my tv the notification that the pc (in the hdmi slot I?™m using was available) then when I went to the channel it kept saying no signal. I managed to fix that somehow by plugging out 3 of my 4 dimms and only using one. After reading a million forums and nearly giving up.

Ok cool jumped that hurdle. Then I proceeded to try use the other rams in the other dimm slots. My next problem was that they somehow didn?™t let me boot with 4 indentical model, size and speed rams. It let me use 1 or 2, booted with 3 inside but wouldn?™t boot or showed no signal on my tv. So I had to find the fix for that. I tried changing the settings in bios and I tried installing the latest bios via windows. I don?™t know which one did the job but it eventually allowed me to use 3 rams and then 4 after I tested them one by one.

I was kinda happy that problem was solved but then noticed that when I had 4 dimms working (4 x 4gb ram) I was only getting 12GB ram out of 16GB. The pc worked fine and it wasn?™t the end of the world but I wanted my full 16GB. I tested and played some Grand Theft Aito and although it did run ok I noticed that there was some occasional frame drops. So I deciided that maybe I should reset my Pc and start from fresh especially after not finding anyway to change it to let me use my full 16gb ram.

After wasting my time resetting the pc and then realising that it didn?™t change the ram issue I thought I would also install the bios especially after seeing that somehow it wasn?™t updated again (maybe due to my pc resetting) so I do the same bios install I did before via windows and guess what? It crashed somehow while I was in windows. I tried to boot after that and I?™m gettung no signal on my tv again.

Now I?™m back to square one again where my tv detects a signal from the pc but then when I go to the channel it says no signal. I dunno what is going on I suspect that it?™s a faulty motherboard before my hardware wasn?™t this retarded before. I?™m now writing this after trying to clear the CMOS for the 4th time. I?™ve even tried plugging out the other 3 rams again. Plugging out any hard drive that may have problems. Reading a million didn?™t theories. Right now I?™m trying to clear the CMOS again but wait long when the battery is out. You guys have no customer service number to call which is totally shocking to be honest. I doubt that I will even get any help beyond the same information that is online. With so many complaints about your product it?™s impossible to figure out which post has the info I need other then clear the CMOS which doesn?™t work for me. So seriously?

it sounds to me like you have performed a bad bios flash

to be honest flashing bios in windows is a terrible idea as it has a far higher chance of a bad flash due to windows running at the same time and data errors

may i point out this is a support forum that has members unpaid trying to help the community

so is the board under warrenty still ? if so you may have to open a rma ticket for asrock to take the board in for service (eg flash the bios in the factory)

the original issue of ram ,,,,,,,,,,

now this may weel be a factor of 4 sticks and the cpu you use
without cpu model and ram models i cannot help any further

Thanks for your reply and yeah I guessed it was the bios update but ASrock shouldn?™t give you the ability to do the bios in windows if there is a problem doing it. Gigabyte doesn?™t have this problem and I just actually put all my stuff back in my old motherboard and it worked and booted up fine. So annoyed and not impressed by all of this all I wanted to do was change my motherboard from Atx to Matx. Also why isn?™t the clear CMOS working? So now I have to send it back for them to do something that should just work in the first place. Sounds even more annoying.

Also my specs are amd fx 6350 (6core 3.9 hz) I have 4 x 4gb Corsair Vengence 1600 has which should give me 16gb not 12gb ahem ahem asRock. 8gb sapphire rx 470 I also woudlnt of had to re install the whole damm pc and bios to have a bad bios experience if that thing actually worked. Just literally wasted 24 hours straight of my life trying to figure this out and stressing to have to put it back on my old Mobo again anyways. Then supposedly hope they fix. lolololololol FML man. Totally ridiculous

ok well i agree ALL brands should NOT give a windows option to flash
but all do and all are a disaster waiting to happen

also when flashing bios i tend to advise removing all bios tweaks eg turn of overclocking and xmp on ram AND only use 1 stick of ram , all of these things have more chance of a data corruption even in bios based flasher

as for the ram issue
a fx cpu and 4 sticks of ram is pushing the ability of the cpu's memory controller especially at 1600mhz

in some cases you have to run it at 1333mhz or loosen up the timings a little
remember the advertised xmp speed is for an intel system ...............

anyways .......alas it seems your option now is to open a support ticket to get a rma number and return to asrock
im more than happy to help you set up your hardware when its all back (eg bios settings etc)

in fact if your south london bring a small box of becks round and i'll do it for you Smile

Haha that?™s funny cos I?™m from North London. I actually changed the ram to 1333 hz to get the three dims working. I also did the flash update in windows before I reset the pc with no trouble so was so annoying when it crashed cos I only just had it working kinda properly. I was reading that the Ram might of been reserved for my gpu but didn?™t know why that would be the case since I didn?™t set it like that and didn?™t see any settingsi like that.

I copied the same first message and wrote to customer service when I did this forum but here?™s something I don?™t get. The Rma support is only for America and asking me for an American address? There is no number to call. I got this from cclonline (will be the last time I do that btw) and I literally just missed the closing time to call them after trying to get it to work all day. I only have had it a day so far. I?™m sure it?™s stupid DPD that flung the board around or something cos from the start it?™s been a pain in the ass. Something was dodgy was before the bios flash. Anyways knowing my luck or should I say lack of it there will be either some lengthy bull I have to wait to get sorted or they won?™t help or replace it then charge me for posting it etc on top of that. Might even try get a refund considering I wanted to get a fx8350 in a week or two and this grannyboard can?™t even handle a fx 6350 and 4 Ram sticks. Damm wtf

arh if you onl;y had it a day

contact cclonline

the distance seller regs have you covered for a return

as for asrock i havnt had to look myself but im sure theres a uk based support centre

as i said though uk based buyers are covered by the distance seller regs
you dont even have to give a reason for return..................

i use cclonline for items myself at times im quite satisfied with them to be honest
as i am with overclockers/amazon/btshop/novatech/scan
it depends who has the best price on the day inc. postage

Oh just to let you know thought I would update you.

So I contacted Ccl and you was right they replaced my Mobo they confirmed it was faulty. I also just got a captain 240 ex cooler and a fx 8350 and I gotta say I?™m pretty happy right now. The cooler is keeping my cpu temp super low around 24c idle and 43 while playing games. My ram issue is gone also. Getting the full amount although it seems like it?™s giving meb1333hz speed although my ram is 1600 hz. Possibly cos I have two versions of the same ram. I purchased a second hand set of two 4gb rams so I could extend my ram to 16gb until I can get something nice like the hyper X. Will probably get 32gb sometime around Black Friday. I was thinking of getting a new gpu but I don?™t think The sapphire rx470 nitro is that bad for now. Seen quite a bit of improvement from my previous set up that had less ram and useless cooling.

fx cpus dont always support top end ram speed

eg 2 sticks of 1600 may work fine ,even 2 sticks of 1866
4 sticks puts more strain on the controller so hence why im guessing its down clocked them to 1333
the difference between 1333/1600 is probably never going to show in games ,BUT if you can tighten up the timings of the ram then that may very well show increased frames

now size of ram .....................forget wasting your money on 32 gb unless you do content creation etc
for gaming theres just no reason to go with 32gb on an fx cpu platform....or any other really

lastly it has to be said
if you have bought a new motherboard/new cpu/ and plan new ram
why on earth didnt you move to am4 platform and ryzen, its insanely more effective than the outgoing fx am3 platform mate

The Phenom II's only officially supported speeds up to 1333 MHz so getting 2000 MHz is quite lucky. Not that those speeds would even be an option on the 970M Pro3, which only let me choose speeds up to 1600 MHz back when I had my 1090T BE... In any case, the FX CPUs officially support speeds of 1866 MHz with only two sticks and two memory slots on the motherboard. Add two empty slots and the officially supported speed drops to 1600 MHz. Use four sticks of dual rank (or mixed rank) RAM and the officially supported speed drops to 1333 MHz. If those 4 sticks of 4 GB RAM are dual rank, anything above 1333 MHz will be an overclock and while it's entirely possible to reach higher speeds, it may require additional tweaking in the BIOS. If they're single rank, then 1600 MHz should be doable just by selecting that speed in the BIOS, even if the system defaulted to 1333 MHz - assuming the memory you have is all from the same kit and is listed in the 970M Pro3's memory QVL.
