There is a serious performance and stability crippling issues (likely clock source related) affecting systems with ASRock AM4 AB350 and X370 motherboards and VirtualBox, which is described in greater detail here:

Suffice it to say, any BIOS released within about the last six months causes either BSODs or unusable, extreme sluggishness for guest VMs. All issues noted in the link above I experience consistently without fail on my VMs running Windows 2000, Windows Server 2016 and Lubuntu Linux.
