Hi. I am interesting in buying the ASRock X470 Taichi motherboard for my new AMD Ryzen 7 2700X build.

The question is simple: Does this motherboard supports the Samsung 970 PRO 1TB SSD [MZ-V7P1T0BW] (specs: M.2 - 2280 - PCIE Gen3 x4 - NVMe 1.3)?

Because here in Storage QVL List does not contained...

I want to install the OS in it (Win 10 64-bit) and to use it as boot disc for my system.

No one knows?? Please!

It is urgent to make the order and to build my system!

Since the board has Ultra M.2 Socket up to Gen3 x4, doesn't this means that it will support the Samsung 970 PRO?

Also -because this is not clarified- can I use this NVMe SSD in the M2_1 slot as a boot disk??

I have Evo 970 and it's working with my X370 Taichi. I see no reason why Pro wouldn't work with X470. It's using standard NVMe, I don't think you even need a QVL for it. Same as you don't need one for SATA let's say.

Shmerl, thank you for your answer!

I am asking this question because a) the 970 PRO not contained in the Ultra M.2_SSD QVL and b) (and more important), in the SATA SSD QVL Samsung doesn't have either a single record in it!!! And I'm asking myself what's going on?? Asrock doesn't support Samsung SSDs at all...??

Now some questions for you!

1) Do you have your 970 Evo connected in the Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_1)?
2) Do you use your 970 Evo as bootable disk (have your OS installed in it)?
3) Is your 970 Evo the only storage drive in your system?

Big smile

Both x370 and x470 support the 960 Pro and 970 Pro. Also as bootable drive and with more storage solutions installed onto the system.
You shouldn't worry.
The QVL list is... rather short and only means that they (ASRock) didn't test this combination. Not appearing on the list doesn't make it incompatible.
You see there the SM951 and PM961 - two of most tricky m.2 nvmes to support (because lack of boot rom) if these are there - virtually any SSD should work too, and yes - I have tested 960pro and 970 with x370 and x470 chipsets.

I'm not sure what's called Ultra or not. On my motherboard the NVMe slot is called M2_1 though. See here: http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/X370%20Taichi.pdf

Yes, I'm booting Linux from it just fine.

No, I have several HDDs as well connected over SATA for extra storage.

I have a Taichi x470 and i´m struggling to put my 970 evo 500gb to work. When i boot from it Windows mess with my audio and i got a BSOD in every game like 30 seconds after launch. Windows run smooth, but i just can´t play anything.

So... think again before buy.
