Hello everyone.
Short summary: I have a i5 13600k 16 GB Kingston fury KF556C40BBAK2 5600 CL40-40-40 (which is on the list) (Before the upgrade to 32GB, BIOS version 2.06) Since I have a 4090 in it I wanted to play on 4k, so wanted to upgrade to 32 GB om ram since some games require it. Bought the exact same ram and installed it, all went fine. Started the pc up and checked in the bios if it detected the extra 16 gb which it did. (btw its 4 slots of 8 GB) Enabled the xmp profile 1 (which is 5600 and cl40-40-40) Restarted. For some reason, whatever I try to change in the bios the XMP wont work. It's stuck on 2000mhz and I have no clue why. So I thought, upgrade the BIOS maybe that's the problem. So have version 6.08 installed now. While installing it took some time which felt odd, also restarted twice then it booted and I went into the BIOS to enable XMP again. Still stuck at 2000mhz. I have no idea why it does not work since the RAM is compatible (on the list). Please help. |

Also, another odd thing, it takes way longer to boot with 6.08 then it did with 2.06.

The ram must be a matched set from the manufacturer. This ensures the chips will be all the same type version etc.

It is, they are both exactly the same. Same type number, same brand, same amount (8GB) etc.

I have been digging through forums looking for the answer to this. I cannot find an option in the bios to enable the XMP. My processor is 13th gen i9, Corsair ddr5 is marked as XMP ready. It's installed in the correct slots. CPU-Z sees it running at 2400mhz, and SPD Ext is greyed out. The memory is listed on Asrocks qvl, Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Patla, in my case it's because the two sets of 16GB are not an actual 'factory' set. If I bought the 4x8 GB at once then it would be and XMP should work.
It's also possible that it only works dual channel, xmp. I got 2x16 gb now, and it works fine again. |
