Bonjour, I built a new PC in March 2024 and I have had constant issues with the ethernet randomly turning off for a few seconds and then turning on again. I have zero issues on my old computer (I switch between the two for work and until the new PC would use the old one for daily gaming).

Clearly the issue is either the mobo or drivers, and no matter what I've tried I've been unable to fix this. This is very frustrating when gaming. Is there any common errors that can cause this or any fixes? At times I can play for a few hours without issue, but other times my internet can drop for 5~ seconds repeatedly over a short period. The speed is completely fine when connected but the lights on the back of the PC for ethernet turn completely off when the ethernet connection drops.

I have zero issues with any of the other ports on my PC, and it seems that I can trigger the ethernet dropping by plugging devices to the USB slots of the mobo, though it is entirely unpredictable whether the connection will drop or not. I really do not want to have to replace the MOBO and reinstall everything as building a computer stresses me out like mad. I have considered buying a wifi or ethernet USB just as a backup.

Please help,
Timothy

This might be OS/driver problem. Can you replicate the problem if booting other system or ubuntu live cd?

You can run Ubuntu off a flash drive:
https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/try-ubuntu-before-you-install#1-getting-started

It's really useful for troubleshooting. All you need to get a USB stick set up is
in the link above. Give it a shot and see if the behavior persists in Ubuntu.

Thanks, I'll have a try sometime. Another thing to note is it seems more frequent when I'm using two monitors (TV and monitor more specifcially, both HDMI)
