Hi All,
I'm using an R7 5700X (Vermeer) in an X40 Taichi board and am looking to replace my current non-EEC memory with EEC memory. On the support page there is no tab for vermeer QVL, so I'm assuming I should refer to the memory QVL tab. On this list there is only one EEC option on the list (Crucial CT8G4WFD824A.18FB1). I'm looking for 32GB EEC memory. What are my options? Can I use memory that is not on the QVL list and if so, what are the implications of doing this? Thank you, X20 |

Hello!
As far as I am aware, Ryzen 7 CPIs do not support ECC RAM. Only Ryzen 9 CPUs support ECC on consumer level motherboards. |

Yes, that part will work. For non-APU based CPUs, ECC UDIMMs work fine: Summit, Pinnacle, Matisse, Vermeer. For APU-based CPUs, ECC only works for PRO-variants: Raven, Picasso, Renoir, Cezanne. AMD did some stupid things with the naming, so always look at TechPowerUp specs to know which model is which. For example, 5700X is Vermeer so ECC is supported (if motherboard supports it), but 5700 is Cezanne, so ECC is not supported. |
