Good morning.
I have a couple of issues with my AB350M pro4 MB. Yesterday I received a new PCIe x1 Firewire card and attempted to install. I choose the top PCI slot just above my GPU and everything fitted perfectly. However windows refused to load and got stuck in a fail, repair, fail loop. I assume that this could be down to drivers and clashing resources. I then attempted all manner of combinations, lower PCI slot for GPU, remove M.2 ultra drive, remove M.2 standard drive, boot from sata drive, all combinations lead to the same result. Prior to this everything worked fine both M.2 slots were occupied and worked flawlessly. I then started to update bios as I noticed mine was on 2.1. I went though the levels and updated the all in one's when required for the next update. I'm now at 5.4 and the pc boots fine without the firewire card (or so I thought) and with the firewire card I now get a BSOD with a WHEA error. This again makes me think its a windows driver error, maybe a fresh install and windows will be able to firmly remove its head from its anus. However as i'm preparing for a reinstall attempt I notice my M.2 ultra drive is missing and no amount of cmos clearing or googling can help me find the problem. Can anyone think of something I've missed, the eufi (or whatever you call it nowadays) only shows my WD M.2 and I cant see any other options to hep discover the Ultra drive. The firewire card is still an issue also, so if anyone has some ideas on that it will be greatly appreciated. |

Arrrghh, why are the people always reinstalling Windows when the system is fine?
Please tell the exact spec for the PCIe x1 Firewire card ! For your install problem: Remove all drives, just use the drive where you want to install the OS. Load bios defaults and disable CSM. Save, restart and boot from your windows USB install stick. |

One moment, can you still boot windows from your Ultra drive?
If yes, do not continue to try a new windows installation! Let's check the Firewire card and the related windows driver instead. |

No the ultra card is no longer seen by bios or windows. I know it sounds strange but i'm using the standard M.2 as boot and the ultra drive as my DAW software and plug in's drive. I haven't started the Windows install yet as i'd like to establish now why the Ultra drive is no longer present.
The Firewire card is one of those generic PCIe x1 card with the ports at the rear 2x 600 and 1x400 with a further 600 port inside. The chip on the card is the VIA VT6307 and asmedia ASM1083. Reason I think its a windows issue is that the bios clearly hands over to window and that's when you get the WHEA uncontrollable error BSOD. I've never got windows to load fully with the card plugged in. Thanks for giving this some thought! |

Yep I've seen these issue's, difference is windows cant even load for me to deal with a suitable driver and once it loads up i'm not sure i'd be able to find the legacy drivers as Microsoft have broken links to the downloads.
Question is though what has happened to the Ultra drive, has the updated bios' caused it to no longer be seen? |

A bios with AMD AGESA 1.0.0.6 for PinnaclePi should be the best for Gen1/Gen2 CPU.
But you can try a CMOS Reset with your current bios, if you did it not already. If this does not help, you could downgrade to the previous version and retry and so on, if no success. |
