Strang problem manli GTX 970 NV and Z77 Pro3

Hi guys,

I have got a strange probleme with my new graphic card a manli GTX 970 NV http://www.manli.com/en/product/geforce-gtx970-nv and the ASRock Z77 Pro3. After heating up the graphic card with a game or somthing similar (MSI Kombuster), the system gets problems to read or write from the ssd (a Samsung 840 Evo). Things I have already tried:
1. changing sata cable to new certified one-->nothing changed
2. trying a different graphic card (ATI HD6850) at my system--> no problems anymore
3. testing the GTX 970 NV on a ASRock Z68/USB3-->rock stable, no problems
4. latest ssd firmware -->nothing changed
5. different ssd-->same problem

After the system freezes I have to do a reset. Then it take 2-3 resets until the ssd get recognized again by the bios. Beside this problem, my system is stable. No OC. The Power Supply is a BEQuiet L7 530Watt. I think there is an compatibility problem between the graphic card and the mainboard. Do you know anything about this problem?

	No, never heard of anything like this before. Unless... questions for you: Your 840 EVO is a standard 2.5" SSD in a metal case? A different SSD seemed to have the same problem? Can you better describe the read and write problems with the SSDs? It sounds like the SSDs might be throttling their speed due to being very hot. Samsung SSDs have a temperature sensor that can be read by some hardware monitoring programs (HWiNFO, CrystalDiskInfo), but that is rare for standard 2.5" SSDs. Can you try using a program like those and check the SSD temperature? What PC case are you using? What CPU do you use and what CPU cooler do you have?

	Hi, yes the ssd is in a metal case. A different SSD got the exact same problem. If the problem occurs the system is not able to read or write to the ssd and after a few seconds the system freezes completly. The temperature of the ssd is maximum at 40°C. I have a completly self build case, but before I bought the GTX 970 I had got a GTX 460 with massive overclocking, without problems.

	Today I tried something new. I took the board out of the case and installed everything laying on a paper box. No problems for 30minutes of running MSI Kombuster. In the case the problem occurs at least after 10min. The I tried to lift up the running mainboard really smooth on one side (about 1cm) and the problem occurs instantly. It seems like there is a slack joint on the board...and because of the heavy weight of the GTX 970 the problem occurs only with this card...

	Is the only thing holding the GTX 970 card the PCIe slot? If so the card may be moving and not making good contact with the slot contacts. Is the locking flange at the end of the PCIe slot all the way up to help hold the card in place? Or is the video card not seated properly in the PCIe slot? If the video card moves even a bit, the connections to the slot are questionable. I hope your PC case has screw down bolts for holding the card in place. But your idea could be correct. It could be a damaged solder joint in the PCIe slot connection to the board. You may be able to see that yourself.

	I think Your VGA is overheating the Intel Chip-set! For testing - add a blowing fan to the chip-set to confirm.
