The X99X Killer user manual is somewhat ambiguous in the area of labelling/identifying which SATA port is which.

The board layout diagram on page 6 shows a top view which only depicts  five (5) pairs of SATA connectors with each pair labelled identifying the names of the two ports comprising each pair but does not specify which port in a pair (upper or lower) is which port number.

If we view the SATA ports edge on so that we see all ten ports from their open connector side, the five pairs of ports are effectively arranged in a "matrix" comprising five columns of two rows.

Text Diagram:

Upper Row: [Column U1] [Column U2] [Column U3] [Column U4] [Column U5]
Lower Row: [Column L1]  [Column L2] [Column L3] [Column L4]  [Column L5]
PCB Layer : ==========================================

Diag Label:  SATA3_2_5   SATA3_1_4   SATA3_0_3  SSATA3_2_3  SSATA3_0_1

What is not clear from this diagram and labelling is whether the port numbering uses upper row then lower row or the reverse:

Option One - Upper Row First would produce the following port allocation:

Upper:  SATA3_2  SATA3_1  SATA3_0  SSATA3_2  SSATA3_0
Lower:  SATA3_5  SATA3_4  SATA3_3  SSATA3_3  SSATA3_1

Option Two - Lower Row First would produce the following port allocation:

Upper:  SATA3_5  SATA3_4  SATA3_3  SSATA3_3  SSATA3_1
Lower:  SATA3_2  SATA3_1  SATA3_0  SSATA3_2  SSATA3_0

CAN ANYONE HELP CLARIFY THIS PLEASE?

Dave

PLEASE IGNORE THIS THREAD...

On further reading (page 21) I found the required detail.

Rather embarrassed....
