x870e Taichi/Nova - Soundcard/x16 to x8

   Hello:

Sorry tried to search to see if this was answered already my apologizes if it has been I couldn't find it.

I'm debating between the Taichi and the Nova x870e boards and my main reason to get either one is I've read that they don't share lanes with the m.2 slots. That's great as I will fill the slots up. My concern goes back to the pcie slots as I would like to maintain the x16 slot for the future and also use a pcie slotted sound card.

I have a SoundBlaster AE-9 sound card. My question is on the Taichi if I put it into the second pcie slot will that cut down the primary pcie slot to a x8 slot?

The other scenario would be to get a Nova x870E and use the little pcie x1 slot for the card. In that configuration would I be cutting the x16 slot down to an x8?

I'm asking this because I could order a x870e Taichi Lite right now as it's in stock....but the Nova is very much out of stock everywhere.
