Playing around with a new build for me, in my trusty old Antec Aria case.

All is well thus far, although I am awaiting a replacement wifi card to allow me to unplug the ethernet cable currently running down the hall to the router in the main computer room. RealTec wifi drivers were dropping out. |

I never get it. They build laptops with processors and graphics that need huge amts of room to provide proper cooling, only to skimp on battery size/life because there isn't any room for a much bigger Ah battery. Oddly, the owners of such laptops, who spend more time looking for an outlet, spend an equal amt of time bragging of what fits on their laps. An Oven. |

While I've salivated over and returned at least three other laptops... I've only ever kept one laptop that I've purchased. Way way back in 2006 I got a very nice deal on an end of year closeout Toshiba Qosmio F25.
Used it quite well, especially after converting it to linux until this time last year. It's Celeron processor just could no longer keep up with the modern code on the WWW. It merely became a very powerful oven and room space heater. So I released it into the recycling universe to get a discount on the parts purchased for this machine. Am currently typing from another Toshiba, cast off from someone else who wanted a laptop with a new battery. My H270M Pro4 is giving me some resistance with installing Win10 in a GPT partition. Not seeing much reference to it here, but let me look around a bit before asking more questions. Okay to ask here? or should I start a new thread? Edited by Seanboy - 08 Jun 2018 at 9:38am |
