Hi there

First post/question as I intend buying an X870 Pro RS mobo soon. I am hoping someone could confirm that a PCIE4x16 RTX4080 Super GPU would connect at PCIE4x16 speed when in the main PCIE5x16 PCIE1 slot on the motherboard. The internet is - as usual - full of confusing, conflicting and misleading comments in this regard.

Thanks!

Yes, it shouldn't have any issues. The board should automatically select PCIe 4.0
for your GPU.

Thanks very much for this. I assumed that would be the case but getting formal confirmation is good. Crying-for-the-moon-perfect would of course be if someone who has this combination running on this board and show something like GPU-Z showing the detected config being PIIE4x16! https://forum.asrock.com/smileys/smiley36.gif

Thanks again!

Considering that there are no Gen5 GPUs yet, I wouldn't worry it would be pretty
silly if motherboards didn't support what's currently available
