Can't install windows 10 or windows 11 on new motherboard B650I with Amd Ryzen 7 7700 cpu with Amd wraith prism cooler and corsair vengeance ddr5 5200 2x16 GB. memory.
Storage: Samsung ssd980 mz-v8v250 Bios: 3.08 Could it be caused by bios-settings not right? I've selected: Load UEFI BIOS Defaults. Have tried to install w10 and w11 64-bit but every time the pc powers off during installation of the OS. What should BIOS settings be? Or could anything else be wrong? Anybody any ideas? please let me know |

Something overheating? <- You can check in the BIOS screen.
Does it just shut off abruptly? Then I suspect power supply is not enough or defective. |

It does shut off abruptly, I'm using a 250 Watt power supply, I've tried looking up about what power supply should have to be but could not find any info on that.
Any ideas on what it should be or where to find this info? thanks for the reply |

250W??? Is that a small form factor power supply or something?
I haven't seen something that small in standard form factor in years, or maybe even decades! You can use the Builder function to create a build, and it will show an Estimated Wattage on the top right. https://pcpartpicker.com/ No estimator will be perfect, and quality will differ among power supplies, but it's a good place to start. |

Hi! I am pretty sure that the PSU is at fault here! 250W is very low in 2024! (For comparison, I am using a 1200W PSU). Please, buy a 650W (or higher) PSU, with 80 Plus Gold, or Platinum rating, from a reputable brand! Let's see if that solves the issue! |

I think that even a 400W PSU is pretty low in 2024. For instance, my RTX 3080 Vision OC, alone, draws 370W! I wouldn't be confident recommending any PSU that's below 650W (80+ Gold). |

I would respectfully disagree there.
It really depends on hardware. For all we know, the OP (Original Poster) doesn't have a GPU and is just using 7700's iGPU. If so, even 250W should be enough, assuming no other power hungry component. I'm using Seasonic Prime 500W (Fanless) with my underclocked 5800X3D + underclocked RX 7600 XT. More than plenty. |

OP's CPU has a TDP=65W, but the PPT=88W. Then, if you take into consideration the rest of the system & the momentary wattage spikes, which are normal in every PC, you'll realize that 250W is not enough. It's always good to have some extra headroom. |
