just put together a new system using the Steel Legend B450M, Ryzen 5 2600, and Corsair Vengence 3000 (other pieces from existing working system), and having issues with it. when powered on, i get nothing but the rgb flashing on the motherboard; no fans or other lights. ive rechecked the system panel pins 3 times, reseated the ram, reconnected all power plugs and cables. nothing seems to get the new build to power on.
i put the old system back together and everything besides the cpu, mobo, and ram are still working fine. looking for any other potential fixes before i do an rma and have to wait a week or more to get a new mobo. this was for a birthday that was yesterday and kinda went down in flames after a long overdue upgrade went awry. |

The very first test when setting up a new system:
Just use CPU, one RAM stick in slot A2, graphics card and mouse/keyboard. Then do a CMOS reset like described in the manual. Start this setup to see if you can go into the bios. |

thank you for the suggestion but managed to get everything up and running smoothly. tried just the new parts powered by a spare psu without tearing apart the old system again (needed an actual pc running for a while this morning) and actually got the mobo to light up solid. so hooked it back up to the old psu and again was solid. figured it had to be something in the build that wasnt working with the new parts. had to put the new cpu, mobo, and ram back together with the old psu, gpu, case, and ssds and troubleshoot from there.
ended up being the front usb 2.0 ports on the case. mobo doesnt like them. once they were unplugged, everything works fine. i dont use them anyway so not a big loss, but maybe a good excuse to buy a new case =) |
