Ordered a Z170 K4/D3 and it came with BIOS revision 1.10. I installed a Pentium G4400 cpu. Unfortunately, it seems the CPU is not supported until the microcode revision was added in update 1.30. The motherboard boots fine, but I do not believe there is a way to flash the motherboard without a GUI like the ASUS flashback feature integrated in their motherboards.
I contacted ASROCK and left a message on Friday after no one would take the call during business hours. Hopefully I can get in contact with them tomorrow and have a chip shipped out. In similar cases they have overnighted an updated BIOS chip for no expense. Just to confirm, there is no possible way for the BIOS to be updated in this circumstance, correct? Until then it appears I am SOL. Thanks!

You mean the ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4/D3 mother board? Yes I understand, that name is a pain to type in. Just to be clear, with the G4400 CPU installed in the board, you can boot an OS, right? You can also get into the UEFI/BIOS in the usual way, right? If you can at least get into the UEFI/BIOS, you can update to any UEFI version you choose. One small detail, UEFI version 1.30 no longer exists on the UEFI download page. That does not matter, since all versions beyond 1.30 will have the appropriate CPU microcode. Here is the current UEFI download page for the Z170 K4/D3: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z170%20Gaming%20K4D3/?cat=Download&os=BIOS I highly suggest using the Instant Flash method to update the UEFI. It is the most reliable method. Note that there is a How to Update link on every UEFI download row. I'll include the Instant Flash How to Update here: http://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSUI.asp?cat=BIOS8 These instruction omit one detail, which I assume the author thought is obvious. The UEFI download file is a zip file, that must have its contents extracted before it can be used for an update. Just do the usual Windows extract procedure, and then copy the resulting file to the root of the USB flash drive. Put the USB flash drive in a USB port on the board's IO panel. You can use a USB 3.0 port, as long as the flash drive is recognized, Windows 7 might only work with a USB 2.0 port. Instant Flash is in the Tools page of the UEFI. If you use a CPU and/or memory OC that you know is not stable, setting the CPU and/or memory to stock speed is a good idea. If you still have questions, etc, let us know. If you can get into the UEFI on your board, no need for a new UEFI chip. NOTE: The forum editor's link creation tool seems to not be working when I wrote this post.
