Installing M.2 Pcie 4.0 SSD in Blazing PCIe 5.0 socket?
I am building my new PC based on Asrock New WiFi and Intel i7 14700K. I wonder if it is worth using the PCIe 5.0 socket to install a PCIe 4.0 system drive? The benefit is definitely a better [larger] heatsink, but this affects PCIE1 [downgrade to x8 mode]. For now I don't plan to use PCIE1 [using the integrated graphics of the 14700K processor], but maybe someday...? Maybe I will also want to change SSD 4.0 to 5.0 - and what can then have a greater impact on the overall performance of the unit? Faster disk [5.0] or 5.0 x 16 graphics? |

You won't tell the difference between pcie4x8 and pcie4x16 GPU performance.
If your mb support pcie bifurcation you can split the main x16 slot into 8/8 8/4/4 or 4/4/4/4. No problem running pcie4 drives in pcie5 slot |
