I know this is an ancient motherboard, but its still good for my uses.
Well, all the ram slots worked up until I moved the motherboard into a new case. Now A1 and B1 will not work with any ram in it. Every time I put ram in those slots, the board will beep 3 times in a continuous pattern. Tried different sticks all with same results. Need to know if this is common or if I'm gonna have to just be stuck with 2 ram slots or toss the board? |

Remove the CPU cooler and reseat the CPU. Make sure the CPU substrate isn't bent
and that when you reapply the cooler you have even pressure, not too tight. I have had the same issue on one of my old Z170 boards after moving it to a new home. It turned out I had unevenly tightened the cooler and it caused one of the corners of the CPU to lift off it's pins. Reseating it and properly mounting the cooler resolved the issue and my missing RAM channel (A1/B1 is one channer and A2/B2 is the other) came back. |
