Hello all
i have a problem with my newly bought Z170 extreme 4+ if i connect the included usb 3.1 front panel i can't boot there is just a 00 for a second on the board display during all my tests maybe 2 or 3 times it worked i could boot and check that the front panel is working but normaly i have to disconnect the usb 2.0 cable if its not connected eveything is fine i already exchanged the board but the new one has exactly the same problem all my other internal usb 2.0 devices (cardreader ...) are working fine i have also updated the bios, disconnected nearly everything from the board besides the essential parts like ram cpu ssd and the cooler hoping that it would be a incompatibility but its still not working but now i have no more ideas :-( |

The POST code display of 00 is strange, that is usually a CPU problem, but that does not make sense.
After you installed the USB 3.1 panel, and the cables to the SATA Express connector, SATA power connection, and the USB 2.0 cable, did you clear the UEFI/BIOS? I know that is unusual for a USB device, but is worth a try, given this is new technology and all the cable connections necessary. It is essential that all the cables for the USB 3.1 panel be connected. Since the USB 3.1 panel uses a SATA Express connection, there are some limitations with other connections on the board when a SATA Express connector is used. From your board's manual: M2_1, SATA3_0, SATA3_1 and SATA_EXP_0 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled Are you using the M2_1, SATA3_0, or SATA3_1 connectors? If so, that could be causing your problem. In the UEFI, Storage Configuration screen, there is an option called M2_1/SATA3_0_1, SATA_EXP0 Switch. You might need to set that correctly when using the USB 3.1 front panel. |

I've got exactly same issue. BTW I've removed everything besides the CPU, even unplugged SSD and Memory and still had this issue. Also started getting blue screens every now and then, so just sent a message to ASRock.

I've also exactly same issue on three! Extreme4+ boards. Connecting front panel as described in manual results in 00 debug code, then boards shuts down.
My hardware ASRock Z170 Extreme4+ Intel i7 6700K RAM: 32GB HyperX Predator DDR4-3000 DIMM CL15 Quad Kit (HX430C15PBK4/32) (on memory support list) Any hints? |

Seems like today's BIOS update ver 1.5 fixes all the booting issues. Also, I don't want to speak too soon, but it seems to fix the BSODs as well.
