ASRock has (or will soon have) some new AM4 boards in it's stable.
Launch page X570S PG Riptide B550 PG Riptide WCCFTech article While I don't have either board on hand to test myself there are a few things that stand out to me with these products: 1. Passive cooling on the PCH. This is a big win in my book, I was not a fan of the actively cooled PCH design. 2. Large heatsink on the VRMs. The heatsink on my x570 Pro4 is very similar and does a great job keeping the VRMs cool under normal/gaming load. 3. The inclusion of a GPU support bracket with both models. This is a neat addition that will be useful when installing large/long GPUs. 4. M.2. heatsink included. This seems to be the standard these days but it's still worth a mention. 5. Simple design with a few frills to make them at home in a windowed gaming setup. I love seeing function over frills, rather cut costs on IO armor and other unnecessary elements than on the components. 6. ALC897 Audio is a bit of a let down on a gaming focused board but realistically, the ALC897 is still up to the task of gaming/streaming and a dedicated sound card can always be added for better fidelity/features. 7. Killer 2.5gb/s LAN. Some solid value here. By the look of it, these boards seem to be targeted at the lower mid range. If pricing is in line with, or just above the Pro4 series then I can see these boards doing quite well. I do like the name. I will keep an eye out for reviews and update this thread as and when they become available, good or bad. Edited by Xaltar - 03 Jun 2021 at 6:23pm |
