Currently, I'm trying to add a TP-Link Archer T9E WiFi adapter to add 802.11AC support my PC and I'm running into troubles. When I try to add the wifi card, it makes the system sluggish and messes with the graphics. Often resulting in the display going into power save mode as it is getting no signal. I'm assuming that it is somehow interfering with the graphics card although both support PCIe v3.0. I've tried several configurations with the PCIe slots but it does this regardless of my slot configuration. When the wireless card is not in the system it runs perfectly.

I'm running an ASRock z97 Extreme6 with an Intel i5 4690 processor and a single Asus GTX760 graphics card. Graphics card is currently sitting in the PCIE slot 2 where I had assumed would automatically reduce from x16 to x8 channels once I added the wireless card to slot 5. But the problem still seems to occur.

Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Will this card or config not work and if so, any suggestions on an alternative? Trying to reduce the wires in my new office setup so any help is appreciated.

What OS are you using on that PC? I read this adapter is not compatible with Windows 10. Then I read that it will work with Windows 10.

Given the T9E's PCIe interface, which will fit in an x1 slot, why use it in an x16 slot? Since the (non-detailed) specs I found don't say what PCIe interface speed it uses, it must be at best PCIe 2.0 x1. One PCIe 2.0 lane at 5Gb/s max will certainly support the 1.9Gb/s maximum speed the card supports, if it can provide that speed, as well as your ISP.

The PCIe 2.0 x1 slot lanes are provided by the Z97 chipset, so separate from the PCIe 3.0 x16 lanes provided by the CPU. It seems you are getting some interference from the T9E affecting the video card. Putting the T9e on a separate interface may fix that problem. Try the PCIE1 or PCIE3 slot.

If you think it may be a power issue, at the bottom of your board is a connector for a four pin molex plug to provide extra power to the PCIe slots.

The only other thing to try would be a separate antennae with wires/cables that connect to the antennae inputs and move the antennae away from the board and PC. Try moving the power cable to the video card away from the T9E, as well as any other cables in the area.

I am using Windows 8.1 where there are drivers available. I had tried putting the wireless card in every other available slot and the same symptoms come up each time.  I hadn't thought of the power issue, so I'll give that a try and see what happens. I'll see if I can find another pcie card to test as well. Maybe it is just a bad card.

Hello there!
 
I have the same problem, exept I have a Soundblaster ZXR soundcard in the last slot.
My mobo is Asrock H170 Pro4s. Almost every time I want to restart my computer the dvi signal is lost. Same situation when I install new driver for my video card wich is r9 285. Sometimes my audio card does not functioning properly. What could it be? Power issues or it's just the two cards confilct?

If the two card are having a conflict, it would likely be with an interrupt that is the same, an IRQ that is.

Try starting a Command Prompt (Admin), and run msinfo32.

Then check the Hardware Resources, Conflicts/Sharing, Forced Hardware and IRQ entries for any problems.

Under Components, check the Problem Devices Entry.

Regarding a power issue, the standard 24 pin ATX power connector only has two 12V pins for the entire board, and the 20 pin ATX power connector only has one 12V pin! Shocked

The four/eight pin CPU power connector is just for the CPU VRMs. So it is well worth trying to use the extra four pin molex connector. I cannot guarantee it will work, but it's a simple fix if it does.

Connecting the molex to the motherboard solved the issue.
I think the cards could work properly, just the power ok signal wasn't strong enough.
I've checked the conflicts thou, and there were no errors at all.
So Creative should put an external power connector on ZXR just like they did to the X-FI.

One more question: if I buy a Pci-e ssd will the motherboard reduce the lines X8 to the video card or H170 chipset has some lanes on its own and won't affect the X16 lanes?

The problem is (No VGA after restart) here again.
Iconnected the molex to the motherboard, and the problem gone at least for a while.
Now here it is again. Angry
So I think it is memory issue considering no error with irq. I bought Hyperx DDR4 which inculided in qvl so I think Asrock should learn how to build a motherboard or how to write a proper uefi. Angry

Ok. I have to apologize here.

After weeks of searching the error I've realized that the dvi cable was the culprit.
Now with vga cable there is no errors.
