Today I plan to buy this device after work and am wondering if I can simply move my existing SM951 AHCI to the Gen2 slot, install the new device to the Gen3 slot, and then use Samsung's Data Migration software to clone the device. Or will this not be possible since one is using AHCI and the other NVMe? I am looking for the easiest way to configure my system without (hopefully) reinstalling everything. Also both are 512 GB. I appreciate any input.
I would like to add that I am running Windows 10 Pro x64. From my understanding it already supports NVMe. A simple clone should do the trick, right? If so, I am super relieved and excited. Edited by gniblack - 30 Apr 2016 at 6:51am |

I had some problems so I just did a clean install on the new device. When performing Windows Updates I had even more problems. I had to disconnect my optical drive to successfully complete Version 1511. I find that to be strange. At least it worked.
I also had some other frustrations during the process. I don't know why, but the UEFI won't list my bootable devices for more than one boot on this motherboard without me clearing the CMOS. Is some setting causing this? I'm not in front of my computer right now so I cannot provide details on this problem yet. It'll just show a bootable option for the Windows Loader. Under Storage Configuration it will not list my NVMe device, but under the bootable devices it will initially show up. I'm needing help understand this nuisance.
