I have a Z87 OC Formula board and I wanted to install my 4690k but it appears the board needs a bios update. I bought a Pentium G3220 which is the cheapest cpu I could find that supports all bios versions.

Z87 OC Formula cpu support list http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z87%20OC%20Formula/?cat=CPU

Here's the problem. I only just noticed there are 2 Pentium G3220's listed in the support list. All specs are the same but 1 is listed as Haswell-R and the Haswell-R is only supported from version 1.9. Is there any way of knowing which version I have before I try and install it?

Here are the part numbers for the Haswell (non refresh) G3220:

CM8064601482519
CM8064601562017
BX80646G3220
BXC80646G3220

If your CPU matches any of those it was released in 2013 and as such is not a Haswell-R.

I could find no evidence of a G3220 Haswell-R CPU on either the Intel Ark site or anywhere else on the web however so I suspect it may be an error/typo on the CPU support list.

Cheers for the response Xaltar. It looks like I have have a BXC80646G3220 so hopefully it should work. I'll give it a go tonight, thanks for the help.
