    Posted: 12 Jun 2016 at 12:53pm
I recently purchased a Z170 OC Formula board and I can't get my RocketRAID card to work with it.  I can enter the RocketRAID BIOS and make changes but the computer locks up every time before I can even get into the BIOS.  I have tried both the PCIE3 and PCIE5 slots and the behavior is the same.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks in advance,

It sounds like the RocketRAID card is causing POST to fail, if you cannot get into the UEFI/BIOS.

What code do you see on the Dr Debug display when the PC "locks up"?

Did you clear the UEFI/BIOS after inserting the card into the mother board?

What is the full model name/number of the RocketRAID card?

Does this card have a driver that must be installed?

Do you have any drives connected to the card?

Hello parsec - thanks for the reply. The debug code shows "99", the PCIe error code.

I did press the "Clear CMOS" button on the rear - I assume that's what clears the UEFI because it was back to defaults afterwards. Unfortunately it had no effect.

The specific model is Rocketraid 620. I don't recall installing a specific driver in the past - it uses the Marvell controller.

The behavior is the same with drives connected or disconnected.

Thanks again,

I believe I found the issue - apparently I need to disable the boot option in the RocketRAID card.  That requires a new BIOS.

But that, in turn, requires that the POST operation complete (apparently...).  So I need to figure out how to stop the RAID card from loading its BIOS during boot so that I can replace it.

Supposedly repeatedly hitting the "end" key does it but I can't get that technique to work.

I'll probably have to move that question to another thread...

Thanks,
