hey, i have an x399 with a TR1950 - it's been working fine with server 2012. i decided to do a clean install of win10 to use as a gaming machine and wanted to raid and boot from the nvmes (was previously booting from single nvme)
after several attempts to get win10 to see a volume to install to (sometimes the raid would show up in diskpart, sometimes no) it seemed like the bios wasn't hanging on to the settings between power cycles. then it dawned on me to check the cmos battery. low and behold, it was measuring 0.18v. i swapped the cmos battery with one measuring 3.16v and now only the onboard LED lights up (under the cog/chipset heatsink) and no life otherwise. there were no changes otherwise so not sure how swapping a bad battery with a good one would brick it so i'm thinking there's some cmos reset i need to do but pressing the button next to the power and reset buttons on the motherboard does nothing. any tips would be helpful as i don't believe there's anything electrically wrong at this time. |
