I built a new system with AMD Ryzen 9 9950X CPU, 96GB of DDR5 RAM, ASRock X870e Tachi Lite MB, AMD 7900XTX GPU, PC Cooler 1000W PSU... etc

System boots up fine (using now) GPU has "XFX" lights on but no fan movement, and most importantly no display output from any of the 4 ports. I KNOW this GPU works fine as I used it for 1 year in my prev setup with no issue. The on board HDMI port works which is the only way I can use this setup now. I have tried 3 times to remove and re-install GPU to ensure PCI slot is fully connected and each of the 3 pci-e cables are connected properly to the pci port on PSU. Reset CMOS, have latest 3.17 Beta BIOS, etc, nothing works. Any ideas? Could it be a bad MB or PCI slot?

Unfortunately I dont have another GPU to test right now.

As your onboard HDMI comes up, you may look into Windows device manager and event viewer, maybe there's some hint ?

Thanks, I did this and it appears there is no trace of this GPU anywhere there. I also dual boot into Linux and its exactly the same there. I am reaching out to the GPU vendor now to see about RMA. I think it may be the card vs the MB.

I have the same problem with the Asrock x870e taichi won't recognise my taichi rx7900xtx.

Previously it worked with my old mainboard. I have the 9800x3d and the integrated gpu works.

I do think this is an bios problem.

Did you solve your problem?

Open a support ticket with ASRock on the issue:

https://tw.asrock.com/events/tsd.asp

ASRock's Tech Support should be able to help.

Wow, what a coincidence!! I still dont believe my GPU went bad in my case. I have moved so many GPU's recently and none had an issue. Since I did not have a way to test with a spare GPU, I ended up sending back my GPU as RMA to get checked out and fixed if needed. I think it will most likely be verified in good working order.

If so I will then work with Asrock on RMA or BIOS tweaks but not sure how a default BIOS dont recognize a very common and new GPU.

There is not much in the BIOS for GPU other than the preference of internal vs external. Either way how could that be specific to the AMD GPU?

Also I DO have a case open with Asrock and will link them to this post!!

Thanks for your reply. I spent the whole weekend trying to find a fix, but unfortunately, nothing worked. I?™ve now delivered the ASRock TAICHI RX 7900 XTX for an RMA.

The worrying part is whether the issue could be with my new motherboard, the ASRock X870E Taichi. I really hope that?™s not the case. My wish was for an easy, smooth build to enjoy, but sometimes things don?™t go as planned. Let?™s see if the GPU gets fixed.

I did get a reply from ASRock stating that there are no known issues regarding this, which makes it even more frustrating.

Did you have to return your GPU as well? For now, I?™m using the iGPU from the 9800X3D to keep things running.
