I recently upgraded my 6800xt reference card up to a taichi 7900xtx and am suddenly having an issue where i can't see my bios screen but can load into windows and see and use it as normal. I didn't have this issue with my 6800xt which seems very odd to me because I did all the normal DDU steps and even resetting the bios to make sure I was on a clean slate. I've looked into this online but I can't get a straight answer and everything I have tried that I did find onine has not worked. This is also the second attempt at my XTX upgrade because the first phantom gaming card I bought did the same thing but I dismissed it as an issue with the card and returned it only to buy this taichi model and experience the same thing.
The things I've tried: -Resetting bios -swapping cables and even buying new high quality 2.1 cables to rule it out -tried every DP and HDMI port -checking every setting on my display to make sure something wasn't right -reseating gpu -checking all psu cables I will note though that I tried hooking it up via hdmi on a 43 inch TV i have and was able to display the bios screen through that and get it to display my windows OS which confused me even more because it made me realize that the first card I bought was also not broken. So after getting into windows while hooked up to that TV I was able to install the new drivers and changed the resolution/refresh rate back to the one I normally use since it was still set to the "safe mode" resolution/refresh rate. When I tried booting back on my main display though I got no bios menu logo with a "no signal" screen up until windows started loading which displayed just fine and I've been able to use it as normal ever since. This is where I'm really at a loss because for one, my 6800xt had no problem running in that lower "safe mode" resolution on my main display after swapping it back in since I returned that first XTX I ordered, indicating to me that my display CAN support it. And now that I know that my new taichi XTX displays windows just fine but not the bios, it's leading me to the conclusion that it's either a setting in my display or a setting in the bios. I have already scoured the display menus for anything that would help put out a signal but nothing I tried worked so I have also ruled it out. So my question now: Is there a setting in the bios that prevents certain displays from putting out a signal specifically for the bios menu but not for booting into windows? I looked at every single setting I could in my B550 Steel legend bios menus but nothing really stood out as a possible solution. Anyone else have a similar issue that they found a fix for or know what setting I need to look for? |
