I recently purchased the x870e taichi, 9800x3d, and 64 gigs of kingston fury and now occasionally my system will freeze during a reboot with the 0d debug code. I flashed to the latest BIOS before any other hardware touched the board. Anyone know what causes this? I just want to be sure that its not defective hardware. Other than the reboot issue, my system seems to run fine. Gaming is stable, Cinebench and 3dmark run fine. Temps seem normal. A little higher than what I'm used too, but im coming from a ryzen 7 3700x with a noctua nh-d14. As I'm typing this now im sitting at 42c. During gaming ill spike around 80c, but usually sit around 70c-75c. I was running HWINFO64 but I uninstalled that thinking that may be the cause. I also uninstalled afterburner and riva tuner to play it safe. This didn't help. The only monitoring software I have running is coretemp and iCUE with the ASUS plugin. Does anyone have any idea on whats going on or how to fix this issue?

The manual doesn't mention this specific code. The closest thing I see is 0xD0 DXE_CPU_ERROR. But like I said, the code I'm getting is 0d. I sent an message to ASRock tech support on 4-10-25, but I havent heard back from them yet.

The 0d debug code on Asrock boards during reboot often points to an issue during memory initialization or training in the POST sequence, even if the system is stable once booted.
Given your components (new platform, high-speed RAM, 9800X3D) and symptoms, the most likely culprits are related to the RAM and its EXPO profile: EXPO Instability (Most Likely): The Kingston Fury EXPO profile (6000 CL30 @ 1.40v) might be marginally unstable specifically during the boot/reboot memory training phase, even if it passes benchmarks once Windows loads. This is common with new platforms and high-density kits (2x32GB). Memory Context Restore/Fast Boot: Sometimes BIOS settings designed to speed up boot by skipping full memory retraining can cause intermittent issues like this. Troubleshooting Steps: Disable EXPO: Go into BIOS, disable the EXPO profile, and let the RAM run at its slower JEDEC default speed (likely 4800MHz). See if the reboot freeze issue disappears completely. If it does, the EXPO profile settings are the likely cause. BIOS Memory Settings: Look for settings like "Memory Context Restore" and "Power Down Enable" in the BIOS memory timings section. Try disabling both, save, and test rebooting (with EXPO still enabled if step 1 didn't apply, or re-enabled if step 1 pointed to EXPO). This forces fuller memory training on each boot, which can solve instability. Test RAM: Run a thorough memory test like MemTest86 from a bootable USB for several hours (ideally overnight) with EXPO enabled to check for underlying RAM errors. Update BIOS (Again?): Double-check Asrock's site for any newer beta BIOS or AGESA updates released since 3.20 that might improve memory compatibility. Manually Tune RAM (if EXPO is unstable): If disabling EXPO fixes it, you could try re-enabling EXPO but manually tweaking timings slightly or increasing DRAM Voltage (e.g., to 1.41v) or SoC voltage slightly (check safe limits) for better stability. While a hardware defect is possible, intermittent reboot issues with 0d strongly suggest a RAM/BIOS configuration problem first. Focus on stabilizing the RAM settings during boot. |

Yeah.
I agree. I also have almost the same memory kit as the OP, on an X670E Taichi, and a R9 9950X. In my case, everything ran well, however when testing my RAM, extensively, with MemTest86, I got some errors. So, I've reduced the DRAM frequency from DDR5-6000 to DDR5-5800, leaving voltage & timings just as they've been set by the EXPO profile. That solved the errors for me. The system is rock stable: ASRock. Edited by NDRE28 - 4 hours 5 minutes ago at 12:34am |
