I am running Win10/Pro x64.
My machine is a custom build from GamePC in Los Alto, CA. I took delivery on 10/30/19. I now live on the east coast in Charlottesville, VA. I am trying to add a second 2TB Crucial MX500 data storage disk to my Z390 Taichi Ultimate machine. The system disk is a Samsung PRO NVMe M.2. I've tried several SATA3 connectors but I do not see the unformatted drive in the ThisPC display. The 'lane sharing' warnings about M.2 confuse me. Does the PCIE M.2 system disk 'share lanes' with the SATA ports? If the MX500 is at fault, how do I establish this with confidence? thanks baumgrenze |

I formatted a Crucial MX500 SSD in my BlacX duet external bay and formatted it.
I installed it in my machine which is based on an ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate and connected power and a new SATA cable from the drive to SATA3_2_3 on the MOBO. I opened ThisPC and the drive is not displayed. I did find a second MX500 which I gave a distinctive name, but not the newly formatted one. I also found the System Drive, a Samsung SSD 970 PRO 512 GB. Why am I not seeing the newly formatted MX500? thanks baumgrenze |
