I am currently running BIOS 3.9 on an X570 Pro4 motherboard with a Ryzen 7 3800X processor. Everything runs smoothly without any issues.
Since I just made (scheduled) HDD backups, I wanted to add a RAID array, and to anticipate the (eventual) update to Windows 11, I decided now would be a good time for a BIOS update. Long story short, I could not get any BIOS update above 3.9 to boot my system. I tried every single update above 3.9 and each one resulted in a windows unrecognized boot device error. Please note that the only thing that changed in my system was the BIOS update and reverting to 3.9 got my system up and running again. I searched the web for what could be the culprit, tested a few potential solutions (short of attempting to fix/rewrite Windows boot loader since I don't want to potentially break my system running 3.9). Anyone has any insights, information, and potential solutions to this problem? I will eventually need to upgrade to a higher BIOS version. During my testing I performed many suggestions within the BIOS (I explicitely stayed away from dealing/repairing physical HDD-related for fear I would not be able to revert back) including but not limited to (I don't remember everything I tried): TPMP settings, RAID/AHCI, Security Settings, Windows Repair. |
