    Posted: 05 Mar 2016 at 3:06pm
I have recently purchased a new wireless card (Edimax EW-7822PIC) to use in my PC since my room doesn't have a LAN port. I have had absolutely zero luck in getting the card to even be recognised by the motherboard and I don't know what is causing it.

I have the ASRock Z97 Extreme 4 motherboard

The card doesn't even seem to be being powered by the PCIe lane as it doesn't heat up at all, and when I look at the system overview in my UEFI it doesn't even come up. I have installed all the drivers I possibly can, the BIOS is the latest version (P2.60). I have reset the bios settings to default numerous times, I do have a graphics card (Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming) which I have swapped from the first slot to the second and it works so I know the slots aren't faulty. I have tried using the card on its own without the GPU, I've disabled the on-board LAN, re-enabled it, I've tried every single PCI port on the motherboard and got nothing. I have also already installed the drivers for the card on my PC, though since it isn't even being detected I know that isn't the problem.

Also, I have tried the card in another PC with older hardware and it was recognised instantly with no problems.

Full List of Components
- CPU i5 4790k
- Motherboard ASRock Z97 Extreme 4
- RAM Corsair vengeance DDR3 2333 8GB
- GPU Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
- PSU CoolerMaster V750 80+ Gold

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me solve this problem, because its been baffling me for days

Any luck with this? I'm having the exact same issue except I haven't tested it in another PC. Worried it might just be faulty.

I read someone fixed the detection issue by setting the speed of the PCIe lane to PCIe 1.0 (Gen 1) in the UEFI/BIOS.

Not sure what board you are using.
