Hi everyone, Just got a brand new mobo Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac and from the first install of Windows 10 Pro I've getting errors on ID 56 & 7031 which is resulting in a system hangup/freeze. No BSOD.... it just freezes.
Here's the setup: Case: fractal Design Node 304 Mobo: Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac - biosversion 1.60 Cpu: Intel i7 6700K PSU: Be Quit - Dark Power Pro P11 - 550watt Ram: Kingston Savage HyperX DDR4 2 x 8GB - HX424C12SBK2/16 Cooller CPU: Noctua NH-U14S GPU: MSI GeForce GTX960 Gaming 4G SSD1: Samsung SSD 950Pro 256GB M2 NVME SSD2: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB Anyone having some same symptoms with the Z170/Win 10 Pro combo? I'm asking because I found these threats and other people, with others mobo's are facing the same problems. Here are the Event errors: Event 56 error: The description for Event ID 56 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: ACPI 5 the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table Event 7031 error: The Sync Host_2b95f service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service. So after reading the threat on Tom's Hardware, this is what I did so far:
If anyone has a different view on this, like is it a Z170 chipset problem or is a bios problem.... please share! Also impotant, system has been benchmarked with Asus ROG software - all passed and Prime95 for 6 hours - also passed everything. CPU Temp Idle 28 Celc. - max 68 Celc. If you have any new views on this - I really would like to know from you! Cheers... ![]() Edited by GetaGrip - 21 Jan 2016 at 7:27pm |

Are those generated while you're using an outdated Windows 10 release?
If so, run Windows Update if you haven't yet and check that those errors disappear. You might need to run WU more than once to get COMPLETELY updated. Post back after updating. |

Everything on the windows side is up to date.... like the drivers also. There is nothing left to update. I think it's chipset/hardware/ram related.

Hi ! I am sadened to report .. I have the exact same issue :
Skylake i7-6700K : Cooled by a Noctua NH-L9i Asrock ITX-GAMING AC 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2400 Mhz : CMK16GX4M2A2400C14 GTX960 4GB : GiGABYTE Windforce OC Edition (Had the same issue with an HD6950) SSD : Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (SM950 nvme 256GB in the mail) PSU : Silverstone SFX-L 500W (Had issue with another 850W PSU and another 500W) I get System hangs (No BSOD, I have to hard reset my computer holding the power button) Happens about once a day, very annoying when playing Diablo 3 on seasonal Hardcore ... T_T I tried 5 passes of mem86+ on parallel CPU. All super clear and stable. Windows 10 Home edition, all patched and up to date as with all drivers. Tried looking the event viewer, and I saw the same message as OP, without thinking much of it. Before seeing this post, I just updated the BIOS from v1.00 to 1.60. Will post if I see any improvement or not. Edited by Altheran - 22 Jan 2016 at 11:59pm |

ASRock all day have been putting online new BIOSes that incorporate the Skylake specific "complex number" BIOS patch Intel just recently released to ALL motherboard manufacturers.
Please check your boards BIOS download pages. |

I'm contact with technical support and they give me a new bios 1.62 with a updated microcode 506E3 6A - no results.... system went down after 3 hours. They did read the threat from Tomshardware and think it's the CPU and going to figure it out with some people in Tawain. I'm thinking of voltage, timings of Ram - so went back to 2133MHz with a Voltage 1.220 and a timing CL13-13-13. If you gonna put more voltage on your memory - the safe max is 1.26 Volt from what I understand on other topics. I'm testing now and can say so far so good - 10 hours steady..... plan is to test for one week 24/7 with prime95 at night and spotify/chrome/adobe LR/PS during the day. If you want I can give you the 1.62 bios - it's for the Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac

SO !!! I think I got what is causing the issue :
C-STATES : I disabled C-States on the cpu in the advanced BIOS settings, and i went in my windows power management, disabled all power saving feature and put the min. CPU Trottle at 100%. Thing is stable since .. 2 days !
