In the specs it say this is triple monitor ready with some vague mention of A series APU's. Is this then NOT the case for Ryzen 5 series APU's?

I don't believe so but I'll ask and post their reply.

AMD's pages for the 2200 and 2400 do not mention it, so guessing not till I hear back.

its very simple
while there was support for FM2 APUs for eyefinity (2+ monitors), i dont see anything on AM4
here is some random mobo with how it should looks like when mobo supports multiple monitors

which pretty much answers your question
more ports = more monitors :)
