When it comes to current gen parts, never buy used CPUs from an unknown source without the ability to actually see it working in person. Old CPUs that are outdated are usually fine, they are ex-upgrade parts and probably work. New ones are often only sold because the seller broke them and is trying to get some money back. People can be particularly unscrupulous
 Glad to see you have a running system now though
