Hi people!
After looking at pictures of an AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac motherboard, seems like the EEPROM BIOS chip is in a SOP/SPI SMD socket (don't know if it's the correct name). ![]() If I have no other options, could I remove the chip and program it with an external flasher, like the USB CH341A programmer? |

It should work, you can also contact ASRock Tech Support and inquire about purchasing a preflashed ROM with the version you need. In the past they have always offered this service.
If they still do, go ahead and try the programmer, if it goes wrong you can always order a new chip, win win

I was on the fence for assembling a new PC with the recently released Ryzen 2xxx CPUs and before pulling the trigger I wanted a confirmation if that "thing" on the motherboard was really a BIOS socket, cause I've found a couple of Reddit posts where they mentioned that model didn't have a removable BIOS EEPROM. ^__~
That or waiting for an x470 mini-ITX next month. Anyway thanks for the suggestion. |
