Extreme 6 z170 Can't update BIOS without issues

I cant update my bios on my Asrock extreme 6 motherboard past version 1.5 without issues. Version 1.6 and 1.7 cause my pc to randomly reboot and sometime never powers down the fans, I just tried to do version 2.5 and it works except I can't use any other memory profile other than auto which defaults to a lower speed than my memory is rated for and when I use the higher profile I have to clear Cmos just to get back in. I downgraded back to 1.5 again and my system works as intended but I am denied any updates that help system stability, 4k access and other goodness. I don't know why this is can anyone help thank!
