I have a E3C226D2I motherboard that was on BIOS version 2.00. In the process of trying to eradicate some issues, I updated the BIOS to the latest (v3.30). The update went fine, but now the system won't boot from any bootable USB flash drive, which is critical for its operation. :( All I get is a black screen with a flashing cursor. I've tried bootable drives made in a variety of manners, including a Yumi-made drive as well as a pure FreeDOS drive. I've tried resetting the BIOS settings and re-doing them from scratch, forcing all USB ports to "Legacy", disabling UEFI and USB3, and also tried just using the drives in USB2-only ports. Nothing works, and I know these flash drives are bootable and in fact one was booting the computer prior to the BIOS update. And of course, I can't downgrade the BIOS version. Any thoughts as to what I'm missing? My server is now totally down until I can fix this. Thanks

Did you ever get it working again?  I'm having the same issue.  Updated to 3.30 and now USB booting is broken.

I'll bring this up with Tech Support to look into.

In the meantime, use at your own discretion:

Any word?  I opened a case with support but haven't heard back.  I don't want to risk ruining the board with a downgrade if I don't absolutely have to.  Downgrading will be tricky since I won't be able to use a USB drive.

USB Booting doesn't work for UEFI or legacy.  I don't know if SATA booting still works, but even if it did, all of the SATA ports are in use on the server.  So unless I was downgrading with a SATA disk I would have to buy a PCI-E SATA HBA and put another SATA disk in the system for the bootloader.

It would be much more preferable for an updated UEFI firmware to be released, preferably one that can be applied using the express flash option.

Greetings.  I was able to resolve the issue by removing the RTC battery.

Adam, sorry for the late reply. My Wife kept me busy today.

Indeed, they replied.

1/ Clear CMOS - hold down the case power button for 30 seconds without 24-pin power cable attached to the board and without CMOS battery.

2/ Repair the boot record.
