Hi,
Symptom: When I press the power button, no beeps, and the fans spin up, but the machine never starts. TO find the issue, I pulled one peripheral at a time until I discovered that if the monitor is disconnected, it will POST, and beep once (normal) and boot up correctly. If I restart from the OS or command line, it will reboot fine. The issue is only on power off/power on situation. This started around a year ago, and Yes, I have been leaving the machine on 24/7 unless I will be gone for extended period. This build is about 6 years old, worked perfectly until about a year ago. To my knowledge, no system changes that would have caused this. Corsair CX600 AsRock H97M Pro4 Pentium G3258 @3.2GHz Corsair Vengeance LP 2X4GB No Name RAM 2X2GB (I already removed these for troubleshooting, I have not put them back) Nvidia Quadro 4000 Kingston SV300 120GB WD Blue 160 GB Ubuntu 20.04 LTS I know the machine is 6 years old, but it has been great for everything I need. I was thinking of picking up a used i7-4790K or Xeon to get another year or 2 out of it. What other items can I check or test to make sure it's not my Vid Card£ Could it be the monitor£ Thanks, |
