Hello, Xaltar.
Could you please create new thread? I'm building a NAS for me and I've choose ASRock A520M-ITX/ac as the motherboard and looking for low TDP CPU for it. I found AMD Athlon PRO 300GE OEM and it look good enough but I'm not sure if it supports nvme drive as a bootable device. The spec on MB(https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/A520M-ITXac/index.asp#Specification) says that: NVMe SSD is not supported with AMD Athlon??3000G Processors But 300GE is not equal to 3000G so I'm trying figure it out. It's hard to find info on OEM CPUs so maybe someone here could help me. |

As far as I can tell the 300ge and 3000g are likely identical silicon with only
clock speeds being different. Both are based on the Picasso architecture and they both have the same TDP. Even the model numbers are only 2 digits different. My best guess is that they will have the exact same specs. I would look at a 35w Renoir based APU for your needs if you can find one. |

Thanks!
But I can't find something like PRO 4355GE and 4655GE and have plenty of these 300GE PRO in stock. I'm still trying though. It would be great if those athlon could use nvme as non boot drive and x1 or x2 lanes. I only need it for an SSD cache. |

The issue is due to the number of PCIe lanes available on the 3000g(and 300ge).
Your board may not provide any lanes to the M.2 slot when a 3000g/300ge is installed. You can try but I suspect the drive simply won't detect. If you are not using a GPU however there is absolutely nothing stopping you from installing a PCIe NVMe card in the PCIe x16 slot (which will be limited to x8 with a 300ge/3000g). |
