Problem with PCIe on Z170 K4

New to this forum and normally experienced in MTB setups.

My problem is this:

A few weeks ago, I bought a whole computer in parts an assembled it myself.

Important parts for this thread is my ASRock Z170 Fatal1ty K4 MTB and my Inno3D GTX 1050 Ti 4GB graphics card

First time installation of Windows 10 gave me a headache since my gfx card wasn't recognised and I spend quite a few hours in search for a solution.

Found it at Toms Hardware where they where suggestion to make a firmware update.
I did so from the bios menu and after a restart it worked..

So far so good.

Now here yesterday when I was playing Heart of the Storm my screen suddenly goes black and the gfx cards fans stopped spinning.

Thought I got faulty gfx card but after putting it in my second pc and saw it start like a charm I was aware that the gfx card was not the problem.

So I tried to use both PCIe slots but no effect to the outcome (aka. still black screen)

When I from the bios menu startet System Browser it just showed me that both pcie slots where empty.

So now I'm stuck with the onboard gfx card and have no clue what to do next

	Could you provide us with a full list of system specs including PSU model and brand. Make sure your CPU 12v 8pin connector is firmly connected. Am I correct in guessing your GPU does not have a 6 or 8 pin PCIe connector on it? If the GPU is not getting enough power through the slot it could cause the issue you described. The PSU would be a likely culprit if it is under-powered or defective.

	Your correct there is no 8pin connector on the gfx card My setup is: ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 K4 Intel I5-7600 3.5 GHz G.Skill TridentZ 2 x 8 GB Ram DDR4 3200Mhz 550 Watt Corsair VS550 Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Inno3D Black RAIJINTEK Themis CPU cooler My other system in which I have another Inno3D GTX 1050 Ti running has also no 8pin connector this is also a Corsair VS550 PSU. This system also have 3x3.5" HDD, 1xDVD and 1xSSD drive with an ASUS Sabertooth X58 MTB and 24GB of HyperX ram Here the system runs without any problem

	Ok, so you have the same PSU model in both PCs, that is useful. If you are able I would try the PSU from the other system and see if it gets the GPU to wake up. You may also want to check your CPU and make sure its properly seated and that the CPU cooler isn't pressing down on it too hard (can cause warping). If the pins for the PCIe lanes from the CPU are not making proper contact it can cause the issue you are seeing. So, lets put this in an order that minimizes effort: 1. Clear CMOS, try the usual jumper method, if that doesn't help then use the battery removal method. 2. Check the CPU and socket for warping, poor contact or bent pins. 3. Try the PSU from the other system. I am sure you have likely already tried to ensure the GPU is properly seated in the slot but I will mention it just incase. New slots can be quite snug sometimes and the GPU may not be fully inserted into the slot.

	I'll also have a 650W EPS Gaming PSU (brandnew) laying around. I'll try the CMOS thing thirst then CPU/Cooler to see if its ok. If it is then I try changing to a larger PSU to see if results is changed The GPU is fully seated in the slot. I guess fans wont work if it wasn't. Will let you know of any results I discover (good or bad).
